Welk (2008)
Video, DV, 6’33, Sound with Detlef Klepsch
at Filmlab Festival, Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf, Atelierkino, Düsseldorf, DE
Welk shows a young man walking along a shopping street in the evening, glancing into shop windows. The camera is mounted on his right thigh, with the lens pointing upwards towards his head. Intercut sequences reveal partially abstract interior views of his aimless wandering. A female voice delivers a voice-over text inspired by reflections on idleness and aesthetic existence. The video was created as part of the first edition of the Film Laboratory of the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf and was screened at the Atelier Cinema in Düsseldorf in 2008.
In 2025, the exhibition Fringe Phenomena at MMIII Kunstverein Mönchengladbach (GER) showed an installation by Detlef Klepsch and me: On the ground floor of the MMIII, we showed Rear Projections with mini projectors, headphones and steel frames, through which 7 video works with sound from the years 2008 to 2024 were accessible. Welk was part of this.
